Rovers storm through to semi-finals

FEATHERSTONE Rovers coasted into the Northern Rail Cup semi-finals with a 60-12 win over Keighley in tonight's quarter-final at Cougar Park.

Rampant Rovers were a class apart as they made it six successive wins to edge closer to a first appearance in the Northern Rail Cup final.

Anthony England (pictured), Jack Briscoe, Finn, Tim Spears, Andy Bostock, Andy Kain and Ian Hardman all scored converted tries before half-time to give Rovers a 42-0 lead.

Keighley rallied briefly when stand-off Jy-Mel Coleman scored his side's first points with a try early in the second half, goaled by Danny Lawton, and they kept the champions at bay until the 59th minute when James Lockwood added an eighth try.

Kain then scored his second try and Tom Saxton went over for to complete the rout with Liam Finn landing 10 conversions from 10 attempts to set a new world record of 41 consecutive successful kicks.

The Cougars grabbed a late consolation when scrum-half Sam Obst went over for a second try and Lawton kicked his second goal.
