Rovers host opening round of Rugby League 9s

CASTLEFORD Tigers and Featherstone Rovers will be among 16 clubs competing in this season’s Rugby League 9s.

All 13 UK-based Super League clubs, Championship winners Featherstone, Gloucestershire All Golds and a combined Cumbrian team will battle it out.

Hull KR, Hull FC, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, Castleford Tigers, Featherstone Rovers, Bradford Bulls, Huddersfield Giants and Leeds Rhinos play in the Eastern Division.

The final at Headingley Stadium on Tuesday June 26, will be an eight team event.

In round one on Tuesday, May 29, Featherstone, Bradford Bulls, Huddersfield Giants and Leeds Rhinos compete at Featherstone’s Bigfellas Stadium.

The action starts at 7.30pm when Rovers face Bradford.

Matches last for 15 minutes. The final game of the evening will be Featherstone v Huddersfield at 9.30pm

Rovers have announced a hospitality package for the evening for £15 per person. It includes hot beef baguettes with chips, gravy or salad, plus a free dfrink.

Also in the first round on May 29, Castleford Tigers, Hull KR, Hull FC and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats lock horns at Hull’s Craven Park.

In round two on Tuesday, June 5, Castleford, Wakefield, Hull KR and Huddersfield Giants meet at Castleford’s Probiz Coliseum and Featherstone, Leeds Rhinos, Hull FC and Bradford Bulls play at Headingley Carnegie.

Round three is on June 12 and round four on June 19.
