Late Lee strike gives Frickley crucial win at Worksop Town
Worksop Town 1 Frickley Athletic 2 ADAM Lee made a match-winning return for Frickley as he netted an injury-time winner to bag the Blues a crucial victory against old foes Worksop Town.
Lee returned to the Tech5 Stadium this week from AFC Goole and his impact was instant as Frickley bagged their first win in seven UniBond Premier Division outings.
Chris White also scored for Billy Heath's men as Frickley leapfrogged the Tigers and moved four points clear of the relegation zone.
Heath rung the changes for the clash after revealing that he'd "lost patience" with his troops following their 3-1 defeat at Nantwich Town at the weekend.
New signings Michael Wood and Ben Chapman both started in defence while Lee partnered Craig Palmer in attack.
And Lee's introduction sparked the Blues inton life just 20 seconds in when he rifled a powerful shot inches wide from the edge of the box.
The visitors maintained their attacking momentum and Jonathan Groome saw his header well saved by Worksop stopper Jon Kennedy.
White fired a warning shot at Kennedy on the half-hour mark when he zipped a low shot just wide of goal.
But it was second time lucky for the midfielder when he broke the deadlock just a minute later with a 30-yard blockbuster which gave Kennedy no chance.
It took 37 minutes for Town to create a dangerous attack, Ben Tomlinson collecting a cross from Jackson and striking an 18-yard shot which struck a Blues defender and went wide.
The hosts started the second half the brighter and Frickley's defence was caught cold in the 52nd minute.
Tomlinson took advantage of some sloppy defending to round Adam Nicklin and slot in the equaliser.
And Frickley had a let-off when a Steve Heath back pass was cleared by Nicklin but struck Tomlinson and ended up in the back of the net only to be disallowed for handball.
Both sides had chances to win the game as Lee saw a shot saved by Kennedy while Nicklin was equal to a Ryan Mallon effort with two minutes to go.
But it was Frickley who had the last laugh as a quick free-kick from White was collected by Lee, who saw a low shot creep inside the far post to give the Blues a confidence-boosting victory.
