Hill encouraged by Barnsley display despite Swansea City cup loss

BARNSLEY bowed out of the Capital One Cup with a 3-1 defeat at Swansea City last night but Reds boss Keith Hill hopes his side’s “encouraging” performance will boost their poor league form.

A brace of goals from Luke Moore and one from Danny Graham saw the Premier League club through, despite Bobby Hassell’s second-half strike.

Hill was pleased with some aspects of his side’s display, especially after the 5-1 thrashing at Brighton and Hove Albion at the weekend, and hopes they can take that into Saturday’s league clash against Bristol City at Oakwell.

“I needed an encouraging performance,” said Hill. “We got the performance but the score certainly doesn’t reflect that.”

He continued: “We’ve got to show pride in the shirt, show pride in our performances for the Barnsley supporters. We didn’t do that on Saturday which left me very low. There were some very good performances out there.”
