Hemsworth prove too strong for Rangers

Hemsworth MW 3 Hall Road Rangers 1 HEMSWORTH MW strolled to a convincing friendly victory against Hall Road Rangers at Fitzwilliam Stadium on Saturday.

The Northern Counties East League side continued their preparations for the new campaign in winning style thanks to goals from Damion Liddle, Lee Swift and Tom Grindel.

The visitors replied with what turned out to be a consolation strike but Welfare will have been happy with the workout.

Good work from Ross Hayward allowed Liddle to tap in the opener on 33 minutes.

MW were awarded a penalty for hand-ball on the hour mark but Liddle's shot was parried by the visiting stopper and Swift pounced to tumble in the second.

The victory was wrapped-up in the 67th minute when Haywood played a neat one-two with Andy Hayward before provided a pin-point cross for Grindle to drill home the third.

Rangers responded straight from the restart when a header back to the MW goalkeeper from Paul Banton was intercepted by Jordan Easter who capitalised to reduce the arrears.

Hemsworth will welcome a Leeds United XI to Fitzwilliam Stadium tomorrow night, kick-off 7pm.
