Frickley kick-off with defeat thanks to disputed Kendal goal
Kendal Town 1 Frickley Athletic 0 A DISPUTED David Foster strike just before half-time saw Frickley Athletic fall to defeat in their opening Evo-Stik Premier League game of the season at Kendal.
Calls for offside on the Kendal goalscorer from Blues defenders fell on deaf ears with the officials as the Cumbrians snatched a close-fought win on Saturday.
But despite the loss boss Billy Heath can take plenty of positives into Tuesday night's home clash against FC Halifax Town.
Heath described the trip to Kendal as the "toughest" game his side could have come up against on the opening day of the season.
And they made a strong start as Daanny Clarke and Leon Henry both forced the home stopper into some early work.
Both sides had half chances but the hosts found the breakthrough just before the interval when Foster drilled home the controversial strike.
Carl Osmond almost doubled Kendal's lead on the resumption but Blues stopper Adam Nicklin was equal to his effort.
Richard Dunning had the best chances for the visitors but Frickley couldn't find the leveller and had to suffer an opening day defeat.
