Frickley hit for five by in-form Ferriby
North Ferriby 5 Frickley Athletic 1 THE six-week break from competitive action certainly took its toll on the Blues on Saturday as promotion-chasing North Ferriby ran riot against Billy Heath and his men.
A Gary Bradshaw hat-trick and goals from Alex Davidson and David Cooke, all in the first-half, gave United all three points, while Lee Morris responded for the Blues with a second-half consolation strike.
For Ferriby, it was their second UniBond Premier Division match in seven days, and the ability to get their pitch ready for action last weekend was rewarded with three points against a Blues side that looked all at sea in the opening exchanges.
It took the hosts just nine minutes to find the breakthrough when Davidson capitalised on a short back-pass by Dean Jones to slot the opener by Adam Nicklin.
Four minutes later Bradshaw, a player highlighted as the danger man by Heath before the game, got the first of his trio of goals.
His second and third soon followed in a ten minute spell which all-but sealed Frickley's fate as early as the 24th minute.
It was five when Cooke curled a fine 25-yard effort beyond Nicklin to complete a perfect first-half for the hosts.
It couldn't get much worse for Frickley on the resumption but, to their credit, they managed to keep the free-flowing hosts from scoring again.
Heath introduced Lee Booth and Neil Towler at the start of the second half and his changes worked immediately as Morris pulled a goal back for the visitors.
But it was to be the last goal of the game, as the hosts sat back on their comfortable lead and Frickley failed to find another way through their defence.
