FRICKLEY Athletic opened their Evo-Stik Premier Division season with a slender 3-2 defeat at Hednesford Town on Saturday.
The Blues had led against the run of play through Jimmy Ghaichem just before the half-hour mark.
The lead lasted just seven minutes, however, when Elliott Durrell levelled from the penalty spot for the hosts.
Neil Harvey scored twice in the second half to put Town firmly in control but Frickley battled until the end and pulled a goal back through Tom Johnston.
Karl Rose’s men couldn’t find a leveller, however, and travelled back to South Elmsall with nothing to show for their efforts.
