Elmsall cyclist sets new record time at Pollington
SOUTH Elmsall Cycling Club’s Barry Dawson set a new personal record in the sixth round of the Pollington Time Trial series.
Dawson was one of five Elmsall riders who competed and returned home in a time of 20 minutes 1 second.
Paul Appleton was first Elmsall cyclist home in a time of 19 mins 12 secs, closely followed by John Hanson in 19 mins 15 secs, Paul Folds, who recorded a time of 22 mins 2 secs in his first attempt on the course, and Richard Watson, who finished in 23 mins 16 secs.
Watson was also in action in the Barnsley RC 19-mile race at Grimethorpe, clocking 29 mins 30 secs.
Two Elmsall riders gained entry into the UK Veterans’ 25-mile time trial championships at Newmarket on Saturday.
John Martin finished the circuit in 56 mins 14 secs and Peter Stirk came home in 1 hour 3 mins 17 secs in strong winds.
