FRICKLEY Athletic progressed to the semi-finals of the Doodson Sport Cup thanks to a 3-1 victory over FC United of Manchester at the Tech5 Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Blues had to come from a goal down against their Evo-Stik Premier Division opponents to claim victory in the quarter-final clash but did just that to secure a convincing progression through to the last four.
The visitors arrived in South Elmsall late and the kick-off had to be put back 15 minutes. But that did little to deter Karl Marginson's side as they raced into a 1-0 lead after just seven minutes.
Peter Rinkcavage's side plugged away for a leveller and it came five minutes before the break through an unlikely source in defender Kelvin Bleau. And things got better for the Blues just a minute before half-time when Stuart Ludlam fired the hosts ahead.
Frickley's progress was secure in the 72nd minute when Danny Walsh made it 3-1 to complete the scoring.
