Blues fans urged to get creative for £10k prize

FRICKLEY Athletic fans are being urged to get their creative juices flowing to help bag the Blues £10,000 to put towards improving facilities at the Tech5 Stadium.

League sponsors Evo-Stik, in partnership with leading builders' merchant Travis Perkins have launched a competition to give member clubs the chance to prove on film why their club deserves to win the 10k prize, as well as capturing the essence of non-league football.

The promotional video must be no longer than three minutes long and the winner will bag a 10k Travis Perkins voucher which can be redeemed at any TP merchant nationwide against materials to upgrade club facilities.

And Blues chairman Pete Bywater is urging any creative Frickley fans to help the club win the prize.

"Frickley Athletic is throwing everything including the kitchen sink into winning this competition and is encouraging any of our supporters who have winning suggestions or filming tips to come forward," he said.

"Evo-Stik is encouraging creativity, humour and artistic license so how we present our entry is completely down to us.

"Improving facilities at the club for both players and fans is always top of the agenda but is often cost prohibitive so we are grabbing this opportunity from Evo-Stik with both hands.

"Our players, fans and volunteers demonstrate passion for the club and the non-league game week in, week out and to win this investment for them would be just fantastic."

Mark Harris, Chairman of the Evo-Stik League said: "We are delighted to see our new sponsor, Evo-Stik, launching this initiative, which we are sure will be the first of many.

"The quality of club facilities in the non-league game varies substantially and many clubs are constantly battling against budget restraints for required works and improvements."

"Non-league football plays such an important role in the wider English game, as supported by Sir Geoff Hurst at the recent launch of Evo-Stik as our new sponsor.

"Initiatives such as this are critical to highlighting the required support and investment many non-league clubs are in such desperate need of."

The Blues have until Thursday, September 30 to submit their entry.

Five finalists will then be selected by a judging panel and put to the public vote via The Evo-Stik League website on Monday, October 18.

The winner will be announced on the Monday, November 15.
