Blues aim to bounce back
FRICKLEY Athletic boss Peter Rinkcavage insists he won’t make “rash changes” to his side after they fell to a first defeat in five games at Burscough on Saturday.
The Blues welcome in-form Nantwich Town to the Tech5 Stadium on Saturday (kick-off 3pm) as they aim to get back to winning ways following their set-back in Lancashire.
But, although disappointed with his side’s performance at the weekend, Rinkcavage will be keeping faith with the majority of his side that started at Victoria Park.
“I’m not the kind of manager who will make rash changes to a team after one defeat,” he said.
“I’m looking for a good response from the players and I won’t be making lots of changes.
“We have quiet a small squad as it is, but we’ve had two sessions to put things right in training and hopefully we’ll see an improvement this weekend.”
He continued: “The confidence of the lads will have taken a bit of a knock, it always does after a defeat, but it’s now up to them to respond in the right manner.”
Nantwich are level on points with the Blues going into the game, although they’ve played less games.
They’re one of the form sides of the Evo-Stik Premier Division and will arrive in South Elmsall on the back of a five-game unbeaten run.
And Rinkcavage knows how tough Saturday’s encouter will be, insisting Nantwich are in a false position in the league table.
“They’ve got a good side and I don’t think they’ll be where they are in the table for much longer,” he said.
“They’re on a great run at the moment and they have some quality players within their squad so Saturday is going to be a really tough test for us.”
Frickley will have Glyn Cotton available after the midfielder served a one-match suspension for the trip to Burscough.
New signing Mark Camm replaced him at the weekend, and Blues fans could see their new arrival in action for the first time this weekend.
Camm, who can play in defence or midfield, arrived prior to the clash with Burscough and went straight into the starting eleven.
He arrives at the club from Worksop Town, having played under Rinkcavage for the Tigers.
“Mark is a leader and has lots of experience so he’ll bring plenty of quality to the squad,” said the Blues boss.
“He became available last week so I wasted no time in bringing him to the club, he’ll be a great addition for us and can play in a number of positions.”
Adrian Hawes is also set to make his home debut.
Frickley have no fresh injury or suspension concerns for the visit of Nantwich, but Leon Henry and Dean Jones remain long-term absentees.
