Blues look to attract new fans with £1 ticket offer

FRICKLEY Athletic are offering season ticket holders at professional clubs the chance to watch the Blues for just £1 on Friday night.

Fans showing a season ticket from any Premier League or Football League club can get their fix of football for 1 when the Blues host local rivals Ossett Town at the Tech5 Stadium on Friday (kick-off 7.45pm).

The initiative aims to attract new fans to the South Elmsall club and bolster the attendance for what's a proverbial relegation 'six pointer' against their Wakefield rivals.

Frickley sit eight points above Town, who occupy the final relegation spot in the UniBond Premier Division, going into the game.

Frickley secretary Steve Pennock said: "The board at Frickley realise that for the Club to move forwards we need to entice new faces through the turnstiles at the Tech5 Stadium.

"Obviously, success on the field helps with this but we are sure that UniBond League football at Frickley Athletic can appeal to fans of professional clubs, we just need to be able to attract them there first and hopefully this offer will help with that so that some of these fans may return when not attending future matches at their own club."

Local professional clubs including Sheffield United, Barnsley, Doncaster Rovers, Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds United and Rotherham United are all in action on Saturday.

And the Blues are hoping the Friday night fixture will help bring fans who don't usually watch UniBond League football through the turnstiles.
