Blues kick-off friendly fixtures with tough Mariners date

FRICKLEY Athletic will kick-off their pre-season friendly schedule against Grimsby Town at the Tech5 Stadium tonight (kick-off 7.30pm).

Blues fans will get the chance to see Billy Heath's new-look side for the first time as they prepare for the forthcoming Evo-Stik Premier League campaign.

The match also kicks-off Frickley's centenary season and will see the Blues wearing their new home kit with centenary badge.

Billy Heath's squad is set to include former Grimsby players Grant Normington and Matt Bird.

New signings Andy Lee, Patrick McGuire, Luke Malcher and Simon Sturdy could also feature.

But defender Michael Wood will miss out with a broken foot and is likely to miss the start of the season.

The Mariners, relegated from the Football League last season, are bringing a strong squad to South Elmsall.

New signing Alan Connell, who arrived at Blundell Park this week from AFC Bournemouth, will be included in Neil Woods' squad.

Tom Corner, who had a spell at Frickley on work experience last season, will also be included.

The clash will be Grimsby's second friendly of the summer, after the Mariners beat Brigg Town 1-0 on Friday night.

Tickets are available on the turnstiles and are priced at 5 adults, 2 OAPs and 1 under-16s.

A three-match ticket is available priced at 11 which includes tonight's match, Thursday's clash with Huddersfield Town and Saturday's home clash against Mansfield Town.

A four-match ticket, which includes all of the above plus the home clash against Eastwood Town, is also available priced at 13.

All tickets will be available on the turnstiles.

Grimsby's squad: Arthur, Colgan, Stockdale, Bore, Hegarty, Ridley, Kempson, Gray, Wood, Garner, Hudson, Leary, Rhodes, Cummins, Coulson, Fuller, Peacock, Corner, Connell.
