Blues boss continues to shape squad with two more signings
FRICKLEY Athletic have secured the signings of two more players as boss Billy Heath continues to build his squad for the new season.
Experienced defender Simon Sturdy has arrived at the Tech5 Stadium from Harrogate Town while attacker Luke Malcher has signed from Ossett Town.
The duo take Frickley's summer signings tally to six following the arrivals of Patrick McGuire, Andy Lee, Charles Fisher and Matthew Bird.
Sturdy, 33, has a wealth of experience at non-league level and was part of Eastwood Town's promotion-winning side two seasons ago.
He started his career with Tadcaster Albion before moving on to Glass Houghton Welfare and Pickering Town.
His performances at the back caught the eye of Harrogate, where he spent three years and won numerous player of the year awards.
The centre-back moved on to enjoy spells with Droylsden and Guiseley before returning to Harrogate to play in the Blue Square North last season.
Malcher, 21, can play in midfield or as a striker and started his career at Huddersfield Town.
He moved on to Harrogate Town in December 2008 before signing for Guiseley and Ossett Town.
Heath has also been boosted with the news that goalkeeper Adam Nicklin has signed a new one-year contract to keep him at the Tech5 Stadium until the end of next season.
