FRICKLEY Athletic could hand a debut to new signing Patrece Liburd in Saturday’s trip to Ashton United (kick-off 3pm).
Liburd was one of three players on trial with the Blues last week and the 24-year-old St Kitts and Nevis international impressed boss Karl Rose enough to earn a deal at Westfield Lane.
“Patrece is a strong and experienced centre-back who has just recovered from a bad injury but who can improve our options at the back,” said Rose.
“We had three lads down to train with us last week. Patrece really impressed me, one didn’t show up and the other lad we’re still taking a look at.”
Liburd suffered a serious knee injury while with Mansfield Town over a year ago and Frickley will be careful to ease him back into regular action.
The centre-back started his career at Bradford City and went on to join Nottingham Forest, where he played for Reds reserves.
He also played abroad, with Belgium side RRFC Montegnee before returning to play for Harrogate Town and, most recently, Curzon Ashton.
