CHAMPIONS Featherstone are just one point behind Co-operative Championship leaders Halifax after beating York City Knights 34-14 at Bigfellas Stadium on Saturday.

Rovers made hard work of beating bottom side York who were 14-0 ahead at half-time.

It wasn’t until the closing stages that Featherstone got on top, scoring 24 points in the last 12 minutes.

Nathan Chappell grabbed a hat-trick in a blistering six-minute spell to take his tally to five tries in two matches.

Andy Bostock scored twice, Andy Kain bagged a clever solo try and Liam Finn kicked five goals.

Player-coach Chris Thorman inspired York’s first-half dominance which earned them a shock lead with two tries from ex-Rovers centre James Ford and one from Jordan Tansey.
