A TALENTED group of young martial arts aces have kicked up a fuss on the world stage.
Six kickboxers from Deborah’s Strike Academy in Kinsley travelled to Canada to represent Team England at the WKC World Kickboxing Championships and returned with an impressive medal haul.
Sensei Ian Womersley, who is the owner and coach of the Academy, took six of his best students across the pond and they claimed seven medals between them.
Jack Rhodes, Jack Mansell, Briony Barthorpe, Ollie Barthorpe, Carla Hesslegrave and Keal Dimmock all took part and claimed four gold medals, one silver medal and two bronze medals.
Womersley said: “I am really pleased that all of the hard training and dedication has finally paid off for my fighters and their families who support them 100 per cent.
“Deborah’s Strike Academy also would like to thank the general public for their support at all of the bag packs and fundraising events which helped to send the fighters to Canada and to the Kinsley Hotel for their continued support over the years.”
The Kinsley Sensei was also presented with his 7th Dan black belt while over in Canada for his knowledge and dedication to the martial arts world.
Deborah’s Strike Academy always welcomes new members of all abilities and encourages families to get involved in the friendly environment.
As well as kickboxing, budding martial arts adults and youngsters can learn Judo and Karate at the club. Men’s fitness combats and women’s fitness circuit sessions, as well as family circuit training, are also held.
To get involved call Ian Womersley on 077727 15884 or Leanne Mansell on 07826 177603 or call in to the club at it’s base at Unit 13 Ashmount Industrial Park, Kinsley, WF9 5EE.
