Castleford Tigers head coach Daryl Powell has not given up hope of including his longest serving player, Craig Huby, in the team for the Tetley’s Challenge Cup final.

Huby had to leave the field in last Sunday’s semi-final against Widnes Vikings with a dislocated elbow after an accidental collision with team-mate Nathan Massey and became a huge doubt to be fit again for the final with the short turnaround.

But Powell has not ruled him out yet after encouraging news from a hospital scan this week.

He said: “Craig has dislocated his elbow so it was pretty painful and we’ll need to check on him before we go into next week.

“He had a scan on Monday night which didn’t show any fracture, which is always helpful, but we’ll have to wait and see how he is over the next week or so to see if there’s any chance of him playing in the final.

“Obviously he won’t play this week, but we’ll see how he goes.”
