FEATHERSTONE Rovers have been given a huge boost ahead of tomorrow night’s (Friday) home Challenge Cup clash against Wigan Warriors with news that utility player Jonny Hepworth has signed a new two-year deal.
Former Leeds Rhinos and Castleford Tigers player Hepworth (pictured) has scored 18 tries in 27 appearances for Rovers since joining them last year from Rotherham Titans RUFC.
Hepworth said: “I’m really pleased to have signed a new deal with the club. Featherstone Rovers is a great club and I’m really enjoying being involved with a club that is really going places both on and off the field.”
Rovers head coach Daryl Powell said: “I am delighted we have been able to sign Johnny for a further two years. He has adapted to life back in rugby league superbly and is a key component of our team. His versatility gives us so many options and his pace and footwork is outstanding.”
Rovers chief executive Craig Poskitt said: “We are thrilled that Jonny has signed a new two year deal at Featherstone. Since returning to rugby league, Jonny has put in some great performances in Rovers colours. With the exposure of two televised Challenge Cup ties, interest in our players is increasing and for Jonny to commit to the club is fantastic. We hope to make other announcements regarding contract extensions in the near future.”
