Hemsworth MW are still looking for their first points of the new Toolsport Northern Counties East League season after slipping to a 3-2 defeat at Grimsby Borough on Tuesday night.
Welfare suffered a slender 1-0 home defeat against Worsbrough Bridge Athletic in their season opener on Saturday and tasted defeat again in a thriller at Borough’s Bradley Road home.
Things were going well for the Fitzwilliam side when Damon Cassell’s 20th-minute strike had them 1-0 up at half-time.
Hemsworth’s lead lasted until ten minutes into the second half, however, when Jake Thompson got the hosts on level terms before firing Grimsby into the lead ten minutes later with his second goal of the night.
Welfare battled back and equalised through Cameron Clark with 20 minutes to go but Steve Wright hit the winner for the hosts with ten minutes to go.
Hemsworth will continue their search for their first league points of the season when they welcome Bottesford Town to the MDC Sports Stadium.
