Hemsworth MW returned to Northern Counties East League action on Tuesday night and secured an impressive point against high-flying Albion Sports.
Welfare, as with the rest of the league, had seen their fixture schedule hit by the recent snowfall and freezing conditions, but got the green light to host second-placed Albion at the MDC Sports Stadium.
And they proved more than a match for their visitors, building on their 2-1 success at Selby Town - thanks to goals from Darren Barrick and Robbie Crapper - last time out with a hard-fought point with a Sports side gunning for promotion from Division 1 this season.
Daryl Bowman’s men face Albion twice in just over a week, with Welfare making the trip to the Horsfall Stadium in Bradford next Wednesday for the reverse league encounter.
And he will hope his side can produce another battling performance to take something from the match.
Before that, Hemsworth will travel to Shirebrook Town on Saturday in the league (kick-off 3pm) looking to make it three games unbeaten.
Hemsworth MW Reserves will hope for a return to Doncaster Senior League action on Saturday with a scheduled home match against Scawthorpe Scorpions (kick-off 2.30pm).
Scorpions are propping up the rest of the division and Welfare will look for maximum points in a bid to extend their lead at the top-of-the-table.
Welfare’s Sunday side also top their Premier Division table in the Wakefield Sunday League ahead of their weekend clash at home against mid-table HD Sports (kick-off 10.30am).
Wells are two points clear at the top over second-placed Shepherds Arms, with a game-in-hand, and will be confident of making it eight wins from eleven matches to maintain top-spot this weekend.
Elsewhere, Kinsley Hotel will visit Hall Green United in the Premier Division (kick-off 10.30am).
Both sides occupy mid-table positions and victory for Hotel would see them move level on points with their hosts.
