HEMSWORTH RUFC edged closer to promotion from Yorkshire Division Four thanks to a slender 10-7 victory over Knaresborough in their penultimate match of the season.
Ryan Blinkhorn scored both tries for Carl Wroe’s men to take them within one win of cementing their top-two spot and earning a place in Yorkshire Division Three for next season.
Knaresborough made life tough for their visitors and even led after being awarded a controversial penalty try.
But the Moxon Fields men held out for a crucial victory. It leaves them three points clear of third-placed Old Grovians with just a game to go.
Hemsworth play their final match of the season at home against Wetherby on Saturday, April 14.
