Hemsworth mixed martial arts ace Scott Askham says he is eager to enter the ring and defend his British title in front of a packed ‘home’ crowd.

The unbeaten fighter will take on Jack Marshman at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday, July 27 for the first defence of his UCFC British Middleweight title.

It will be the biggest bill the 25-year-old has been included on, with a crowd of up to 15,000 expected at the home of Doncaster Rovers.

And the Hemsworth ace is hoping his army of fans make the short journey to offer their backing as he looks to continue his rapid rise up the rankings.

“The UCFC is a great organisation and am really looking forward to defending my British title,” he said.

“Jack is a great opponent and I’m really looking forward to fighting him in front of my home crowd.

“Jack himself has a great supporter following so I see this bout being a very exciting fight.”

David Mangham, one of the shows organisers, said: “Scott is a brilliant fighter who comes from Doncaster and has huge support in the area.

“He will be defending his British title against Jack “The Hammer” Marshman, who is an excellent fighter with some really impressive wins under his belt.

“This match-up will be an all-out war and will have the crowd roaring for more.”

Askham, who trains at Ludus Magnus Gym in Doncaster, goes into the fight at the top of his game.

After clinching the title last August when he beat Mark Jones, Askham has stretched his unbeaten record as a professional to ten wins and no defeats. Seven of those are from knockout or technical knockout, with two from submissions and one from a judges’ decision.

Victory in Doncaster next month could see him rise to as high as fifth in the British rankings.

The fight card is packed with some of the biggest MMA legends on the circuit including former Ultimate Fighting Championship legends Neil Wain, of South Elmsall, Ian Freeman, the former Vale Tudo champion and the USA’s Ken Shamrock, a UFC veteran.

There is also UFC’s and TUF finale contestant Andre Winner, Ricco Rodriguez, the unbeaten Bellator fighter Karl Etherington.

The event will see hip-hop star Professor Green, Jay MYA and The Sunshine Underground performing.

Tickets are priced at £50 in advance and can be bought from Askham direct by calling 07584 250727.
