A FIVE-A-SIDE football team from Hemsworth is heading to Wembley this weekend.
Hemsworth Hotspur beat off all comers at the Deep Freeze Fives competition, held at Powerleague Leeds, to qualify for the national finals of the competition.
They’ll now make the trip to Wembley, and the indoor training facility next to the famous stadium, to take on the best 5-a-side teams from around the country for the national crown.
Hotspur are one of 32 teams to qualify for the finals from regional events across the United Kingdom.
They held their nerve to beat Guiseley on penalties in the final of their regional event in Leeds.
Rob Rollin made the crucial save to see his side through, while Lee Carrington also impressed.
Benjamin Clacker was voted player of the tournament and Scott Folletti was top scorer with 13 goals from just seven games. Lee Green pitched in with a vital strike while Jamie Corfield and Steve Wiggins also impressed throughout.
Hotspur will have to up their game for the finals and be in with a chance of winning over £8,000 in prizes.
