Featherstone coach Andy Hay is expecting a good test for his Championship team against York City Knights at Pontefract RUFC’s Moor Lane ground on Sunday (2pm).

“York are in Championship One but they were not easy beats last year and topped the table most of the season,” said Hay.

“They will be coming to play and if we turn up with a similar attitude in this game we showed at Batley last weekend we’ll get found out.

“No matter who you are playing if you don’t work hard in a game and turn up not wanting to fully commit to your job you get caught out.

“It should be interesting at Pontefract Rugby Union Club which is a big field.

“It will need a bit of adaptation for both teams but I think it will be a good game for us. It will be a different venue and hopefully we can get some fans down there and we can make up a little bit for what we served up last Sunday.

“Everyone was disappointed - the players deservedly - and also the fans who travelled to Batley on a terrible day and they deserve better and so do the staff and everyone else associated with the club.”

For Sunday’s game, seating capacity at Pontefract RUFC is extremely limited.

There are also no turnstiles and to reduce congestion, supporters are strongly advised to pre-purchase ground admission tickets from the Big Fellas Stadium. They cost £10 for adults, £5 concessions and £2 juniors.

Parking at the Moor Lane ground is also very limited.

To help spectators, return coach travel will leave the Big Fellas Stadium at 1pm - the Cappers Bar will be open from 11am - and will cost £4 per person.

Rovers will announce the official squad numbers for the new season at a launch night in the clubhouse next Monday (January 26).

The event in the Cappers Bar will be hosted by Ian Jefferson.

Player kit sponsors are being invited to attend to meet their chosen player and present their playing shirt for 2015.

At the event, Rovers will also unveil their new away kit. The shirt manufactured by the club’s technical sportswear partner XBlades will be available in all sizes to purchase on the evening.

Latest £500 Rovers lottery winners are J Clarke (B0035), P Roberts (L1072), C Lillywhite (Q5991), M Dunmore (S4671), P Bentamane (E6244). £5 consolation prizes: M Jeffery (V2332), J Banks (V3309), D Stabler (V2927).
