Ian Hardman won both the coach’s and the supporters’ player of the month awards at Monday night’s Featherstone Rovers Supporters Club event.
Hardman has played at full-back in the last three games, with Danny Craven switching to hooker following the loss of specialist number nine Matty Wildie with a serious knee injury.
Rovers coach Jon Sharp said: “Ian’s awards are well deserved.
“He has taken his opportunity at full-back with both hands and his recent games have been excellent.
“We are pleased with him with the challenge he faces competing with Craven for full-back.
“It probably epitomises what we are trying to create with competition for spots. Both are fighting for the full-back spot. There are a couple of other areas where the competition is keen and I think that’s good for motivation.
“Both Craven and Hardman are multi-skilled and can play a variety of positions which is invaluable when you haven’t got a big squad.”
Sharp is delighted with the way the club’s new signings have slotted in.
“All the new guys are doing well. I’ve been been thrilled to bits with every one of them,” added Sharp.
