FRICKLEY Athletic moved out of the Evo-Stik Premier Division relegation zone with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Nantwich Town at the Tech5 Stadium last night.
The Blues dominated throughout but had to wait until the second half to grab the goals for a crucial three points.
Gavin Smith opened the scoring eight minutes after the restart before Ashley Burbeary added a second six minutes later.
Ashley Longstaff sealed the victory with Frickley’s third with 18 minutes to go.
Boss Peter Rinkcavage described the win as the “best performance of the season”, including his time as Worksop Town boss at the start of the campaign, where he left them in second place in the table.
“I left Worksop (Town) when they were second in the table but the performance we put in against Nantwich was the best I’ve seen all season,” said a delighted Rinkcavage.
“We were outstanding and we’ve been very solid in our last three games so we just need to keep that momentum going.”
Victory lifted the Blues out of the bottom four and gave them their first win in a month.
Blues fans will be hoping for a stalemate in tonight’s Premier Division clash between Hucknall Town and Whitby Town, with victory for either side seeing the Blues drop back into the bottom four.
