FRICKLEY Athletic’s bank holiday weekend got no better on Monday as North Ferriby United inflicted a fourth consecutive defeat on Karl Rose’s side.
Ferriby, managed by former Blues boss Billy Heath, eased to victory and left the South Elmsall side still looking for their first point of the campaign.
Rose tinkered with his team following the 2-0 home loss against Marine just 48 hours earlier but the hosts were quick out of the blocks and former Blue Danny Clarke lashed an early effort over the bar.
Frickley responded and Indy Aujla had a powerful shot charged down.
The hosts always looked the more likely to open the scoring and, after Blues stopper Tom Woodhead did well to deny Ryan Kendall and Jack Muldoon headed against the woodwork, Gregg Anderson was left unmarked to fire United ahead from a 22nd-minute corner.
The hosts continued to press and were rewarded a minute before half-time when Liam King was left in space at the edge of the box to fire in Ferriby’s second.
The visitors improved on the resumption with chances for Jimmy Ghaichem, Terry Barwick and Jake Pikton.
But Gary Bradshaw all-but sealed the game for Ferriby in the 66th minute before former Blue Clarke completed the scoring in the last minute.
