A SOUTH Kirkby Knights junior player has her eyes on future glory after signing for Leeds United’s centre of excellence U11s squad.
Olivia Whitehead, 8, has been playing football for four years and has shown natural flair playing within the Knights’ junior set-up.
Her ability was recognised by Leeds United when Olivia was invited to attend the club’s development centre last autumn.
The Stockingate Mill Junior pupil then joined Sheffield Wednesday ladies, scoring seven goals in only three weeks.
Olivia has shown great dedication and in the latter stage of the season trained with Knights, Wednesday and Leeds while also playing weekend games.
Having seen four of her team-mates leave Knights to sign up with academies, Olivia has demonstrated her versatility on the pitch by playing in several different positions.
That dedication and versatility was rewarded when she became one of the 23 girls invited to attend three trials over a period of seven days at Leeds.
And the Knights youngster rose to the occasion to see-off the competition and bag one of 14 places available in the U11s team.
Having signed a contract at Elland Road, Olivia has now left Knights and is gearing-up for the start of United’s pre-season training on July 26.
