Frickley Athletic’s new recruits could be joining in the preparations for the new season next week as pre-season training begins.
Karl Rose’s side will get underway next Tuesday as they aim to produce another trophy-winning season.
Up to six new players could take part in training, with Rose hoping to announce the arrivals when the transfer window opens on July 1.
Frickley will line up against Doncaster Rovers for the first of three pre-season friendlies against Championship opposition on Tuesday, July 2 and Rose is keen to see his men make a stronger start to the new season than they did to the 2012/13 term.
Frickley failed to win any of their first seven league games last season, but recovered to end the campaign in 18th place in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division and win the Sheffield & Hallamshire Cup.
Rose said: “We need to start the season better this year.
“Hopefully we have got the players to be ready, we are getting the balls out and working on our shape, but pre-season is about getting fit and sharp.
“Most footballers these days look after themselves, gone are the days when players put on two stone over the summer.
“It’s just a case of getting the lads used to the grind.”
Frickley’s 2012/13 campaign did not end until May 9 due to their participation in the cup, but after a busy off-season, Rose is keen to get the new season underway.
He said: “We had an extended season last year but the lads are all chomping at the bit.
“There’s been lots of business and we want to get two more in, but I’m happy with the squad.
“We have got to build up our base fitness and get the new players into our mentality.”
Tickets for the Doncaster match will cost £8, or £4 for concessions, and will be “pay on the gate”.
Following that, there will also be home friendlies with Scunthorpe United, Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley.
