FRICKLEY Athletic management team Peter Rinkcavage and Jason Maybury will leave the club after Tuesday’s Sheffield and Hallamshire Senior Cup final could be his last game in charge.
A statement on the club website read: “Following discussions it has been decided that Peter Rinkcavage and Jason Maybury will leave the club after the Sheffield Senior Cup Final on Tuesday.
“In the meantime the management team are fully focused on winning next Tuesday evening’s Final at Hillsborough against Worksop Town and finishing with some silverware.”
Speaking to the Hemsworth and South Elmsall Express yesterday, Wednesday, Rinkcavage predicted he would be leaving the club, saying: “I expect it to be my last game in charge.
“In the last 18 years, Frickley have finished in the top half twice.
“There has been a systematic failure and the club needs to look at why that has happened.
“Changing managers is the route the club has gone down during that time and if they do it again then I have to accept that.
“There is a really good nucleus of a team and the fans deserve more success than they are getting.”
The Blues boss also described the resignation of Athletic’s vice-chairman Steve Shorthouse as a “catastrophic loss for the club”.
He added: “He was not only the main investor but he is very knowledgeable about the game.”
The final is a welcome diversion for the Blues, who face a nail-biting wait to see if they have avoided relegation from the Evo-Stik Premier Division.
And the Blues boss has paid tribute to his players who have endured a difficult conclusion to the season, saying: “I personally can’t thank them enough and no matter what happens in the final we plan to enjoy it and hope to bring some silverware back home in the process.”
The cup final at Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough Stadium on Tuesday, May 8 kicks off at 7pm.
