Frickley Athletic have announced they will take on Football League clubs Sheffield Wednesday and Scunthorpe United in pre-season friendly matches.

The Owls will top the billing at Westfield Lane this summer when they visit South Elmsall on Saturday, July 20 (kick-off 3pm), while the Iron will provide the opposition on Tuesday, July 16 (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Blues have strong links with League Two Scunthorpe due to former player Russ Wilcox being assistant manager at Glanford Park. Frickley also took defender Callum Howe on loan from United this season.

The matches are two of a first batch of pre-season games announced by the Evo-Stik Premier League club.

Boss Karl Rose has also arranged a home friendly against Evo-Stik Premier League champions North Ferriby United, managed by former Frickley boss Billy Heath. United will visit Westfield Lane on Saturday, August 10 (kick-off 3pm) - the Saturday before the start of the new season.
