With their first priority achieved in holding onto their Premier Division status in the Evo-Stik League Frickley Athletic can now turn their full attention to trying to win silverware as they head for a cup final tomorrow night.

The Blues take on Nostell MW in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup final with the game taking place at Rotherham United’s New York Stadium (kick-off 7.30pm).

It is the fourth year in succession that Frickley have reached the county final and they have experienced both sides of the occasion, having followed a 3-2 defeat to Worksop Town in the 2011-12 season with an epic 4-3 win over Sheffield FC the following year then last season’s disappointing 1-0 defeat to Athersley Recreation.

This year’s opponents are from the league below as they ply their trade in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

Nostell made a poor start to the season and looked set for relegation until a mid-season revival saw them pull clear of danger. They come into the final in good form, having won five of their last eight games and drew 1-1 with likely champions Shaw Lane Aquaforce last Saturday.

They include a couple of familiar former Frickley players, Dave Bordman and Ben Saynor, in their ranks.
