JUNIOR footballers from Moorthorpe got a taste of Premier League coaching when they experienced a training sessions with coaches from Everton FC.

John Fenton, Everton’s chief academy coach, and fellow Toffees coach Andy Goose, held the session for Moorthorpe Rangers U9s at Darton College after scouts from the Goodison Park club had been impressed while watching the talented young team.

Moorthorpe manager Andy Burden and assistant manager Kev Harrison also took plenty from the session, picking up useful training tips along the way.

Moorthorpe will hope the training session gives them every chance of competing well against their Everton Academy counterparts after being invited to play in a match at the Toffees’ Finch Farm base.

Brodey Burden led the way with four goals and Ciaren McGuckin impressed with a hat-trick while Jed Parker completed the scoring.

Winger Ben Davies shone to take the man of the match award.

The second game finished 2-2 with man of the match Cameron Wagstaff and McGuckin both levelling Ackworth goals.
