FRICKLEY Athletic will face Worksop Town in the final of the Sheffield and Hallamshire Senior Cup at Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough stadium next month.
The Blues were waiting to find out whether they’d come up against old foes Worksop or Penistone Church in the cup clash and the Tigers progressed from their semi-final with a 3-2 victory on Monday night.
Frickley secured their spot in the final thanks to a last-minute 1-0 victory over Sheffield FC in the semi-final at the Tech5 Stadium earlier this month.
It means Athletic manager Peter Rinkcavage will go up against his former club at the famous stadium on Tuesday, May 8 (kick-off 7pm).
The Blues had mixed fortunes against their Evo-Stik Premier Division rivals in the league, beating the Tigers 2-1 at home on Easter Monday but losing the reverse game 2-1.
Frickley will be boosted by the news that Cecil Nyoni, on-loan at the South Elmsall club from Sheffield Wednesday, will be able to play in the cup final.
Nyoni’s loan deal was due to expire following the final match of the league season at the weekend, which Frickley won 4-3 against Stafford Rangers, but the Owls have agreed to extend his stay to include the cup match on his home turf.
