Featherstone too good for Hull FC in RL 9s

FEATHERSTONE Rovers achieved their second win in the Rugby League 9s tournament at Headingley Carnegie on Tuesday evening.

Rovers, who beat Huddersfield Giants in the first round the previous week, defeated Hull FC 26-8 in their final game in the second round at Headingley.

Featherstone were 18-0 up after just five minutes and although Hull hit back Rovers sealed victory with two tries from Rob Kirk.

Rovers lost Tuesday’s opening match 24-8 against Leeds Rhinos, despite two tries by Jake Perkins, the first after just 60 seconds.

Perkins was again Featherstone’s outstanding player in a 24-12 defeat against Bradford Bulls in their second game.

Castleford Tigers recorded their first win in this season’s competition at Probiz Coliseum on Tuesday.

The Tigers lost all three games in the opening round at Hull KR the previous week.

Their losing start continued when they were beaten 18-4 by Huddersfield Giants in their first match on Tuesday.

The Tigers then bagged their first victory by defeating Hull KR 16-4 before losing their last game 22-20 to Wakefield Wildcats in the best match of the night.
