SOUTH Elmsall defender Jamie McCombe insists he’s enjoying life on-loan at Preston North End but doesn’t have any plans beyond his one-month deal.

The towering centre-back is on-loan at Deepdale from npower League One rivals Huddersfield Town until January 2 after falling down the pecking order at the Galpharm Stadium.

McCombe, a former South Elmsall Boys and Frickley Athletic player, hasn’t played a league match for Town since his sending off in the 2-2 draw with Leyton Orient in September.

He’s played in all four games since making the move to North End at the end of last month, scoring in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy defeat against Chesterfield, but is just focusing on playing games rather than thinking about his future beyond his loan stay.

“I have one month, I’m here until January 2 but I’m still a Huddersfield player who’s on-loan with Preston,” he said.

“Nothing’s been said about what will happen after, I’m just enjoying playing games and getting my fitness up.

“[Extending the deal] is not something that’s been talked about, I just want to do the right thing for my career and for my family.”
