Rangi Chase will play for Castleford Tigers against Salford City Reds on Sunday despite putting in a transfer request, according to head coach Daryl Powell.
The Cas boss hopes to have all the winning squad from the Tigers’ last game against Bradford available and intends to select star stand-off Chase.
He said: “I’ll check on players this week. There’s a couple with bumps and bruises, but I don’t expect there to be too many changes. There’s potentially one or two, but I’ll see what the players are like.
“I would think Rangi Chase will play. I don’t see any reason why not.
“The transfer request is not something I have spoken to Rangi about.
“He didn’t train the other day, he had a bit of illness, but he should be okay and will play as far as I’m concerned.
“He has been outstanding for us. He’s had a hand in a lot of what we’ve done and he’s a half-back and they tend to have a big hand in what’s going on. But the team has been excellent and they have really slotted in to some of the things we’ve worked on recently.
“We’ve scored some high quality tries. Rangi has had a lot to do with it, but against Widnes I thought Jamie Ellis had a significant part to play in that win when Rangi got sin-binned. It’s a team game and everybody works hard together, working off the back of each other.”
