HEMSWORTH’S Scott Askham will go up against Welshman Dai Cook after seeing Lee Chadwick pull out of this Saturday’s scheduled Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) bout in Doncaster.
The 24-year-old was excited at the prospect of facing the experienced Chadwick at Doncaster Dome but will instead take on Swansea-based Cook.
“It was disappointing that he [Chadwick] dropped out,” said Askham.
“I was looking forward to that fight, but I’ve just kept my focus in training and I feel really good for Saturday, I just can’t wait to get out there no matter who my opponent is.”
He continued: “I don’t know too much about him [Cook] but I’ve been focused on my own thing and training has gone really well.”
Askham, who trains at Matrix MMA in Doncaster, is looking to maintain his unbeaten record since turning professional.
He won his first title with victory over Mark Jones in the Ultimate Cage Fighting Championships (UCFC) in Batley last time out and will be in confident mood for a return to his regular Doncaster base this weekend.
He’s set to defend that UCFC belt on Saturday, December 1, with a venue and opponent to be confirmed.
South Elmsall’s Wayne Murrie is also on Saturday’s bill at the Dome.
Askham still has some tickets left for an event that’s fast approaching a sell-out.
They’re priced at £30 and can be bought by contacting him on 07584 250727.
