Castleford Tigers Supporters Club are celebrating their tenth birthday by holding a 2004 to 2008 season review tomorrow night (Tuesday).
The Eagle sponsored event, in the WSTS Suite at the Tigers’ Mend-A-Hose Jungle ground, starts at 7.45pm and will involve with a question and answer session with the audience and guests, who will include first team stars Craig Huby and Luke Dorn.
Admission is CTSC members £1, non members £3.
Ten years ago the Castleford Tigers Supporters Club restarted after being dormant for many years.
A committee was elected, a constitution agreed and membership of the CTSC grew, slowly at first, then more rapidly as the reputation of events and fund raising provided members with a say in what the raised funds could be used for. The events provided a means of communication with the clubs officials, players and staff, as well has having fun along the way, even in the relegation years.
CTSC’s latest donation, the Castleford Coat of Arms, takes their total donations to £52,441, a great effort from members past and present.
Tigers chief executive Steve Gill approached the supporters club before Christmas about the sign and members thought it fitting that they should help with the purchase
A CTSC spokesman said: “We dedicate the sign to everybody who has been in the CTSC, going back to 1926.
“We know from club records that fund raising by the CTSC in the past helped with ground improvements, signing of players and regular donations were made to the parent club.
“Our 10 year stint is only part of the supporters club proud history and we look forward to the future.
“We are hoping to hit the 500 member mark this year, we currently stand at 460. Membership is still available at £5 adults, £2.50 under 16s and £10 for a family, two Adults, two under 16s. You can join at any CTSC event.”
