Castleford Tigers have appointed Pete Riding as the club’s new head of youth performance.
Riding joins the Tigers with an excellent track record in his previous role as head of youth development at Huddersfield Giants which he held since December 2011.
Previous to that, Riding spent three years as the Giants’ player performance manager after moving from Wakefield in late 2007. He occupied the same position at the Wildcats for four-and-a-half years.
Riding will oversee the Tigers’ Academy set-up and deliver the club’s strategic plan for the development of its young talent covering a number of perspectives to prepare players for Super League rugby.
Castleford Tigers’ head coach Daryl Powell said: “Pete is an experienced operator in Rugby League with a proven track record of developing young athletes at both Wakefield Wildcats and Huddersfield Giants.
“I am excited that he will be working with our club to take us to the next level of the coming years.
“Our culture is growing at all levels and Pete will enhance our ability to grow first team players of the future.”
On his appointment with the Tigers, Riding said: “As a Cas lad, there was only one club that I would have left Huddersfield for and that’s Castleford Tigers so I’m chuffed to be here.
“It became clear once Daryl and I met that we have the same vision of how we want the club to grow and I’m really looking forward to working closely with him and the coaching staff in driving the standards and culture throughout the club.”
