Castleford Tigers aim to bring in O’Brien

Castleford Tigers have confirmed that Warrington Wolves’ Gareth O’Brien has joined the squad in training with a view to agreeing a one-month loan deal for the Warrington half-back.

The Tigers are hoping to complete the deal in time for O’Brien to play against Bradford Bulls at Odsal on Saturday.

The move follows the two-match ban handed out to Rangi Chase this week and although the club have said they were disappointed with the verdict they have decided not to appeal the suspension which followed a charge of a Grade B reckless strike on full-back Zak Hardaker in the 63rd minute of last Sunday’s fixture against Leeds Rhinos.

O’Brien, 21, made 11 appearances and scored three tries and 28 goals for the Wolves in 2012 and spent time on loan with Widnes last year.
