Castleford Tigers head coach Ian Millward was critical of his side’s kicking game as they lost 26-22 away to Hull KR.
Although the Tigers scored two of their four tries off the back of kicks and were denied what looked a perfectly good 40-20 by a controversial refereeing decision they were also guilty of wasting too many opportunities through wayward kicks and did not make full use of windy conditions in the second half at Craven Park.
Millward said: “I was extremely disappointed with our kicking game.
“It was one of the worst kicking games I’ve seen in a long while.
“We put ourselves under a lot of pressure with the way we kicked and I was surprised with how close the game was.
“The 40/20 by Chase was a 40/20. But we can’t rely on one good kick to make a kicking game.”
