FREESCORING Hemsworth MW were certainly up for the cup as they demolished Nightingale 8-3 to lift the Wakefield Sunday League Premier Division cup at the weekend.

Lee Carrington scored a hat-trick to help the Fitzwilliam Sports Complex club, who sit two points above Nightingale in the Premier Division table, to victory in emphatic fashion at a sun-drenched College Grove.

Paul Cooper and Will Kemp scored two each, while Colin Williamson also got his name on the scoresheet.

Nightingale scored two late consolation goals but that couldn’t damped Hemsworth’s celebrations.

Welfare return to league action on Sunday when they host Stanley United, and they’ll be hoping it’s not a case of ‘after the Lord Mayor’s show’.

Players should meet at 9.30am for a 10.30am kick-off.
