HEMSWORTH returned to winning ways with a 34-18 victory over Old Otliensians in Yorkshire Division 4.
Head coach Mark Wilson described his men’s performance as their best of the season as they bounced back from defeat at Leeds Medics and Dentists last time out to climb up to third in the league table.
The hosts dominated throughout and led 34-6 with five minutes to go before the visitors made the scoreline more respectable with two late consolation tries.
Hemsworth scored five tries through Geoff Murdoch, Phil Campbell (2), Matt Jordan and Dale Joburns.
They trailed 6-5 early on after the visitors had replied to Murdoch’s opened with two penalty kicks.
But Hemsworth hit back in devastating fashion to claim the points.
“For the past season we’ve been working on structures and playing in patterns and it all came together,” said Wilson.
“We were tremendous and totally dominated,” said Wilson.
“We drove them off every ball, we were superb in the scrummage and we were winning all the line-outs.
“It was quiet in the dressing room before kick-off but the players knew what they needed to do to bounce back from last week and they did it.”
