FRICKLEY Athletic will look to book their place in the final of the Doodson Sport Cup tonight when they visit Rushall Olympic (kick-off 7.45pm).

The clash with their Evo-Stik Premier Division rivals is the first of two last-four dates in cup competitions - they’ve also made the semi-finals of the Sheffield Senior Cup.

And as well as the prize of reaching a cup final, Blues boss Peter Rinkcavage is hoping victory at Rushall can help propel them out of relegation trouble in the league.

“It is a big game for the club and if we can perform and progress to the final hopefully it can be a spring board for a positive end to the season,” he said.

“Rushall are a strong side though and gave Kendal a bit of a hammering on Saturday so we must improve greatly [from Saturday’s defeat at Buxton].”

Olympic are in fine form going into the game with three wins from their last four matches, including a 4-0 rout over Chasetown in the previous round of the competition.

The sides drew 0-0 at the Tech5 Stadium earlier in the season but tonight’s match will be played to a conclusion.
