FRICKLEY Athletic striker Danny South has been handed a trial with League of Ireland Premier Division side Dundalk FC.
South, who’s also played for Wakefield FC, has travelled across the Irish Sea to start pre-season training today.
The hitman has been recommended to the Oriel Park club by his former manager at Wakefield FC Ronnie Glavin, a close friend of Dundalk manager Sean McCaffrey.
He’s one of up to 13 players to start a trial spell with the club as McCaffrey runs the rule over potential new players in the close season ahead of the start of the Irish season in mid-February.
South’s trial will mean he’s unavailable for Frickley’s game against Northwich Victoria in the Evo-Stik Premier Division this weekend.
