FRICKLEY Athletic were without manager Peter Rinkcavage on the sidelines as the Blues suffered a 2-0 defeat at Ashton United in the Evo-Stik Premier Division on Saturday.
Rinkcavage celebrated the birth of his daughter yesterday and missed the trip to Lancashire as a brace of Sam Madeley goals gave the hosts all three points.
The South Elmsall side dominated the game for long spells but failed to turn their chances into goals and were hit twice on the break with goals either side of half-time.
Ryan Mallon, Ben Turner and Peter Knox all came close for Frickley early on before Madeley opened the scoring for United against the run of play in the 18th minute.
The Blues kept the pressure on the Ashton goal but they couldn’t find a way past Terry Smith, the United goalkeeper.
And the hosts all-but sealed their victory in the 68th minute when Chris Amadi whipped a cross in for Madeley to grab his second of the match.
