FRICKLEY Athletic will have to wait until mid-May to find out if they’ll be reprieved from relegation from the Evo-Stik Premier Division.

The Blues finished their campaign in 19th, missing out on survival only on goal difference with Stocksbridge Park Steels, but could be let off following confirmation yesterday that Northwich Victoria would be relegated after breaking league rules.

Victoria were successful in their appeal against expulsion from the Evo-Stik Premier League yesterday, with the Football Association deciding a one-step relegation would suffice.

The Vics will now play in Division 1 North or South next season, meaning the Blues could be reprieved.

The FA’s League Committee will meet to discuss the constitution of all the leagues in mid-May and a decision on Frickley and Northwich’s future will be decided.
